According to the company's official half-year report published on August 13, Genting Singapore recorded a 34 per cent drop in net profit to S$156.1 million. The Resorts World Sentosa operator attributed the decline to higher depreciation charges, reduced interest income and ongoing asset refresh projects.
Half-Year Financial Results
Total revenue remained stable at S$1.20 billion, reflecting a one per cent decrease. Gaming revenue fell four per cent to S$804.4 million, while adjusted EBITDA contracted eight per cent to S$389.8 million. Non-gaming segments offset part of the decline, growing six per cent to S$398.8 million. Resorts World Sentosa generated S$210.8 million in adjusted EBITDA during the second quarter, marking a twelve per cent year-on-year increase and an eighteen per cent rise from the first quarter. The first half of the year faced a softer operating environment characterized by seasonally reduced second-quarter demand, slower tourism arrivals and cautious consumer spending. For the second half, Genting Singapore plans seasonal promotions including the RWS Festival of Thrills in September, scheduled alongside the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.
The RWS 2.0 expansion remains on schedule for a 2030 completion. Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, chairman and acting chief executive officer, stated that the resort has entered a new phase. He noted that a refreshed leadership team and a defined transformation roadmap will guide the development of updated entertainment offerings and long-term shareholder value.
The current period follows a first-quarter result where net profit previously halved due to a slump in VIP contributions.
