TAB fined $2.7m for spam and telemarketing breaches

Tabcorp has received a second regulatory penalty within twelve months for violating Australian spam and telemarketing legislation. The Australian Communications and Media Authority confirmed the company paid over $2.7m following a compliance investigation.

Regulatory findings and compliance measures

The ACMA review identified repeated failures in Tabcorp’s customer outreach procedures. The regulator noted that the company’s marketing communications did not align with established telemarketing standards and spam control requirements.

The penalty exceeds $2.7m, equivalent to roughly €1.7m. This charge represents the second compliance penalty levied against the operator in the past year, reflecting ongoing regulatory scrutiny of its communication practices.

Tabcorp previously faced a similar regulatory action earlier in the twelve-month period. The company continues to operate its betting and gaming services while addressing the identified procedural gaps.
